Urban Journalist is your personal app to help you to make exploring cities easier and personalized. You can do so by saving your favorite places (hotspots) in a city and share them with your friends. Personalize your hotspots by adding labels, photos, and notes.
After downloading and opening our app, you can press the button “Become an Urban Journalist” if you don’t have an account yet. Press “I’m already an Urban Journalist” if you already have an account.
When you go to your profile and scroll all the way down, you will see a button “Log out” in the right lower corner of your screen.
Favorites are a list of your favorite hotspots in a city.
On the ‘My Hotspots’ page: Tap on ‘Add a hotspot’ → Tap on the hotspot in the results → Tap ‘Add to Favorites’. A list of Favorites will then automatically be created.
You can search for Favorites by either searching for a city to see all the Favorites in that city, or by searching for a person to see all the Journals saved by that person.
You can filter for specific hotspots inside a journal by pressing the filter button in your journal. With this feature you can select what kind of hotspot you are looking for: a restaurant, bar, coffee shop, etc.
Hotspots are places that you like in a city. Hotspots can be: restaurants, bars, coffee shops, clubs, stores, etc.
You can add hotspots to your favorites or saved items by pressing the “Add a hotspot” button on ‘My Hotspots’, or add hotspots via the “add” button inside your favorites or saved items.
You can delete a hotspot by pressing the “edit” button in the top right corner of your hotspot page, or by long pressing a hotspot in a Journal.
You can discover hotspots through a city on the explore page. When you search for a city, there will be a selection of people who created journals of that city.
When you find hotspots through journals of friends or people that you know, you can use your them as your filter. You know your friends and you know their taste in hotspots. That makes it easier to find places that are perfect for you, versus browsing through a random selection of hotspots.
You can find the nearby button on the search page. This button will show you the places that are around you. Use the filter inside the map to specify what you are looking for.
In the top right corner of your map, you will find a filter. Here you can filter for people, vibes and labels to find exactly what you are looking for.

You can find another user through the search. You will arrive on their profile and will be able to find their Favorites, Saved Items, and impressions.
You can filter in Favorites, Saved Items and nearby to find exactly what you are looking for.
You can label hotspots in categories, like: restaurant, bar, or coffee shop, and many more. You can select multiple labels per hotspot.
Saved items helps you save and remember the places you still want to explore. This way you will never forget the cool places that you found, or the ones that your friends told you about.
On the ‘My Hotspots’ page: Swipe to ‘ Saved Items’ → Tap on ‘Add a hotspot’ → Tap on the hotspot in the results → Tap ‘Add to Saved Items’. A list of Saved Items will then automatically be created.
Following your friends and other inspiring users will make it easier to find their Journals in a city.
You can follow someone by searching for their profile and tapping ‘Follow’.
You can change your profile settings on your profile by pressing the “edit” button in the top right corner of your profile. On this page you can change your profile picture, city of residence, date of birth and several other settings.
You can change your password on the sign up/sign in page by pressing “forgot my password”.
You can invite your friends via multiple media by pressing “Invite friends” under the “More” section on your profile.
A passport marks the countries where you have a favorite.
Impressions are the photos that you take of a certain hotspot. You can add impressions alongside labels, vibes and a notes when adding a hotspot to a journal.

You can delete your account on the account settings page on your profile.
